Richard doesn't just play Kenton - he writes and acts. Currently his play 'Love on the Tracks' (shame he and Kathy went off track!), is currently playing at The Watermill Theatre. This link will take you to an interview with Richard http://www.watermill.org.uk/love_on_the_tracks.html

Did anyone else see Tim Bentinck on Telly last night? He was very good I thought. I liked him being a bit dyspeptic and snippy. Worth seeing it in i-Player if you missed it

Grayson Perry is an Archers fan. "Making pottery is a dirty business. You don’t go to the studio in a nice dress. It’s where you get on with stuff and make a mess and collapse in an armchair and listen to The Archers”.

Love Eddie's suggestion in next week's Radio Times that there should be a 'Nigel Pargetter Roof Garden' in the new Broadcasting House!

Several of you have made comments about the Forum in the 'Re Come Back Denny' thread in Archers Discussion.

The idea we had was that anyone who wished could make a comment on any page in the site and that they wouldn't have to register to do so. This has had partial success for the Forum because the process is more complicated encorporating that idea as well as the usual Message Board procedure.

Someone has suggested an updated post marker, which we'll look into and we also feel that we can make the message lay-out more friendly. Captcha was set up in response to spammers trying to squat the site and is a sign of the times. By all means point us in the direction of effective alternatives.

Let us have your suggestions too if you would like to share them

We've just heard that two more series of Ambridge Extra have been commissioned, with the first starting in Spring. Going digital anyone?!
  • Captcha

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 04/02/2012 16:03:07 by KathyPerks
Someone asked why they had to type the two Captcha words after logging in and making a comment

It's a method to prevent automated spam as you have to type in the words manually.

The site was flooded with spam messages selling goods and we had to take steps to control this. Such a shame. It's also why comments have to be pre-moderated.

These are methods increasingly used by social and commercial sites as spammers become evermore ingenious.

I like to download the weeks 6 episodes on a Sat and then listen on my Ipod when I'm ready. Since the guys who prepare the Podcasts have recently changed the date format from yyyymmdd to mth dd the podcasts don't order correctly. Please, can we return to the old format?

I am once again thoroughly enjoying my new copy of Who's who, but wonder why the Archer's family tree has not been updated. I have spotted at least 4 omissions or errors. Sorry to be pedantic but thought I should point them out. Have other listeners noticed any?
  • Strike hits Archers!

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 18/01/2012 14:58:38 by KathyPerks
One of my colleagues emailed me with the news that they were ready act but there was no-one to record them for posterity! The 24 hour strike protesting against the removal of key programmes from BBC Birmingham to Bristol is under way and it has taken a few casualties. Archers Addicts needn't fear 'though. We've battled through snow storms and heat-waves,railway strikes and bomb threats, and nothing has interfered with the smooth running of events in Ambridge for the listener; I doubt we'll start now!
  • Whoops!

I'm so sorry. A forum message was duplicated and the moderator's became digitally disadvantaged and deleted both messages!! We think it was from Archersfan (?) and it was about a 90 minute extended Omnibus. Please post the message again and I promise to ensure it doesn't slip the net again. It can only be described as a 'Grundy' moment

  • Linda Snyll

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 01/01/2012 12:56:14 by KathyPerks
Hi Everyone, we start 2012 with a query from an Addict. 'Please settle a disagreement! Who was it who, when Lynda Snell first came to Ambridge and said that her name was spelt with a "y", replied "You mean Snyll?" - ? Was it Nelson Gabriel or Brian Aldridge?'

    Anyone know the answer?

Hi - I hope you all had a good Christmas and are recovering from all that lovely eating, drinking, playing games and perhaps the occasional walk to escape from it all!

Someone posted a message about Bridge Farm and it has been accidentally deleted! Please post it again so that we can have our very first post Christmas post. Many apologies too and it won't happen again - promise!

  • Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

Thanks for all your posts and messages throughout the year. I hope you have a great time with family and friends. Ambridge certainly seems a happier place this year - although I may be talking too soon...

Don't forget Ryan Kelly, (Jazzer), is on Radio 4 'In Touch' on December 27th - and David Jason's new comedy 'Royal Bodyguard' is on BBC One on Boxing Day at 9.30pm, with our very own Tim Bentinck, (David), in a leading role.

Now I must pick up the Goose, bread and croissants and get to the pub

Well....if it means we can soon start to PM again (missing podcast links in particular!!) I'm all for it! It only takes two seconds, I don't find the words too hard to read and if it means the board isn't over run with messages about merchandise from who knows where then it has to be good.

Hi Everyone - you may have noticed that even when you're logged in you have to type in a couple of words. This is an anti spamming device. We had to choose between this and allowing messages through retrospectively, which I think rather takes away from spontaneity. But let me know what you prefer

Not everyone knows that Timothy Bentinck, who plays David, writes and sings his own songs - if you want to hear his alter ego vist http://www.bentinck.net/music/comic.html - his alter ego, Ray from Holloway, keeps getting caught by speed cameras. If you're having a dull day this could put a smile on your face!

Thank you for all your nice comments about Ryan - I shall put them together and mail them off to him with our Congratulations card. I had a special fondness for when he had a dog called Hadley - so close to my name of Hedli that when he called 'Hadley' I used to say 'yes?' To Hadley's surprise!
