I admit I also find it hard to believe that Jolene would get involved a) so soon after Sid, and b) with someone like Kenton. However... aren't you even a teeny bit interested in how it's going to pan out? What are the Ambridge busy-bodies are going to say, and what's Jamie going to think? Talk about confusing - what a nightmare!

I did say I was going to lave this site, but was asked to re think. I had decided to leave because several people were getting snidey about Camilla who I think is a good brick and didn't deserve so much angst.

I also think that Kenton's and Jolene's relationship is plausible. I have known friends bereft after a death, and just long for someone to be kind to them and take them out - yes, even after a year or so. Jamie's position will be no more strange than that of many children today - with broken families and new partners in a house. He gets on well with Kenton.

I think this is a good relationship idea and Jolene has made it clear she will never forget Sid.

What is wrong with Kenton? I think he is alright. He had a fling with that girl when he left Kathy, but show me a man who has never made a mistake, and I bet he has never made anything.

I have always liked Kenton. Kathy was a moaner and whined, but again her character is true to life. I know people you see in the street and you think 'Oh, no what are they going to moan about today?'

Personally, I think it is back on track after the Nigel event, which I still think was a bad mistake on the part of the script writers. However, we have to move on.

I wonder what the reaction was in the 1950s when Grace got killed? Does anyone know? After all, she was a very important character too.

Bring on the romance - I love it!

What we need now is a partner for Helen. I will never like her, but again she does exist many times in real life. I have had friends who think they will breeze through motherhood and end up shadows of their former selves asking for help. I think that will happen to her too!

What happened after Grace? Phil fell in love with Jill (eventually!) and our wonderful crop of current Archers characters were born!!

I'm sure there was an outcry at the time (bit before my time I'm glad to say!) but I've read how it was all to steel ratings from ITV and grab sensational headlines (sounds famillar!)

But.. hindsight is a wonderful thing... if Grace hadn't died would there be our current generation of Archers...?(maybe - Grace may have had children I suppose)..

But it is hard to imagine... so who knows what may be in store for Lizzie and co..heartache and harrowing listening at times I'm sure..but new characters too maybe - who in years to come we may be sitting here arguing about the fact that we couldn't imagine life in Ambridge wthout them either!

I intend to keep listening to find out anyway!

    incase you dont remember,

Jolene stole sid from Cathy, she decided she wanted the bull and sid and went for it, despite cathy - lovely lady

and kenton was with cathy sids first wife, now hes going for sids 2nd wife. something is not right there - same man taking both another mans wives - it leaves me cold.

At the moment, I'm disenchanted with TA. I certainly don't think it's back on track. The repurcussions from Nigel's death have not shaken Ambridge to the core, but mainly given us endless rows between David and Ruth. I expect we'll be told there's fascinating twists to come, but if it's anything like the last two months, I'm not holding my breath.

Kenton and Jolene's storyline doesn't only leave me cold, I feel it's unbelievably contrived. Do the writers assume we'll think, 'How clever, getting these two together?' Well, it's not clever, it's lazy writing and, in it's way, almost as bad as the sensational manner Nigel was written out. We deserve better.

No, I'm not looking forward to what others will say about Kenton and Jolene's pairing. I certainly don't want to hear more angst from Kathy and Jamie. In fact, I hope Kathy rises above any sort of bitterness and says good luck to them. Doubt whether this will happen as the writers seem intent on making her character unlikeable - possibly interesting to write and challenging to act, but so tedious to listen to.

aaaaaaaaargh!! I know it is hard to please everyone all the time, but come on, let us calm down a little.

Gillian Reynolds wrote a great article in the Review of the Telegraph yesterday, saying she has come back to the Archers after dropping it in January.

I truly think at the moment the story lines are all very plausible.

I don't like the Jolene and Kenton storyline - never have- voted for it as worst storyline in the Sammy's not long ago! If the other villagers condemn it then maybe this relationship will be over sooner rather than later. I too, hope Kathy will rise above it - but I'm not sure Jamie will -maybe it will bring the two of them closer again though (as ever, I am the eternal optimist!) I also find it rather hard to believe that Freddy passed his exam...last week he was in a state "after turning over the paper" and surely didn't answer many questions as Lizzie went to fetch him soon aftrwards and yet here we are- he passed!-(maybe he didn't pass with flying colours like Lilly surely did) but still it was another slightly implausable ending.

I stopped listening when Jolene and sid was in the shower at the gym, it turned my stomach then.

I had been listening since i was 9 so a good 30 years at that point, I seriously have to consider now if its worth the bother I so loved it before, and I hate where it is going.

I agree with what is said by portia and Vicky - have been disheartend with it for quite a while now, we get characters in dribs and drabs, people often ask where is auntie chris - or Jack - or peggy, they just pop up now and then of course they are getting on and are probably needing to rest but people would be talking about them even if we dont hear them.

    ugh time for bed

And why, oh why, when Peggy went to see Henry, did she say NOTHING about the dubious way he was conceived? Not even as an aside to Tony, if not to Helen's face?

Quite! Her change of heart was almost as unbelieveable as Tony's! She didn't even mind that her cup and saucer didn't match. Oh please!!

I am so glad it is not just me who feels this way. Nigel was the last straw for me. I did catch a short part of the omdubus on Sunday only to find Lizzy in hospital - oh good grief!

    Kenton and Jouley... no way.

I do hope they stop using the East Enders stile of writing soon so that I can reconnect with one of my favorite programs since I was a child.

Me too - The Archers has turned into Eastenders in the countryside!

After over 25 years listening religiously to the Archers, I gave up a few weeks after the "cheap thrills" death of Nigel Pargiter. I decided to listen for the first time again tonight, June 19th 2011, only to find that the death is continuing to be dragged out and cause ridiculous out of character disunity.

Why can't the Archers writers admit their mistake and bring back someone at least similar to his character and restore something that is now badly missing from the Archers. It doesn't have to be a Dallas style amnesia, why not an unknown twin, brother, half brother or cousin, discarded at birth for some reason - which could bring up all sorts of other story lines, or another character entirely with similar cheer.... How about an unknown older brother, throwing the whole of Elizabeth's inheritance into question???!!!

Looks like I will not be listening again in the near future.
