I was really cross just hearing Alastair going on about Topper! Does he forget how Shoooooolagh stood by him whe he gambled away all that money. Now ie hs daring to question her kind action in taking on Topper. He is a vet - surely they earn decent money and she has the business which should support another horse.

What annoys me in the Archers is that past events are never mentioned. The little girl who has gone to South Africa is never mentioned, Roarrie is never discussed at all.
Sometimes I think The Archers does not have a pst!!

Why is this?

I so agree with all of this. Alistair and Shula CAN'T be strapped for cash and it's not as though they need to fork out for stabling. What's the big problem Al?

It also annoys me that they don't often seem to mention recent aignificant events. Why not an episode or two set in SA (need not really be there, of course.) We would all like to know how Phoebe's getting on, even if her family seems to have forgotten her.

Indeed, Alastair is showing a somewhat selfish side at the moment. We can't see Topper go!

But as for the past, it's odd because you rightly point out we've hardly heard from Pheeeebs since she went to S Africa and occasionally Ruari does get a mention. But then we've got all the Jonh/Rich stuff going on from 13 years ago still and that isn't going away.

I think there's so mauch going on in Ambridge and so many characters it must be difficult to get them in for even a few seconds in a mere hour and bit a week.

We hardly hear the voices of Kenton, Jolene, Elizabeth, Kathy, Jamie, Harry, Elona etc etc these days. I know they're more minor characters but still....

Well, actually Pat hasn't mentioned Rich/John for quite a while, which also seems rather odd, considering how obsessed she seemed to be. Has she really decided to just let it drop or will Kylie's arrival re-ignite the matter?

Alastair is an unbelievably irritating character! First all that gambling, then his patronage/friendship with the appalling Ryan, not to mention his disgusting crime when he doped a racehorse and got away with it. If I was Shula, I'd have dumped him years ago.

I didn't think Al did actually dope the race horse but just very nearly? Maybe I missed it! I agree about the past not being mentioned - it's only Kenton who knows about Alistairs gambling isn't it?, only Kenton who knows about Ruth's near affair with Sam....it's too much for one man to bear and all will be revealed one day I'm sure! And - I agree with the above - I'm sure Kylie's arrival will re-ignite Pat's obsession with Rich!

I must agree with many points here. I started listening when Kenton and Joleen first got together, so Kathy and Jamie were in many scenes, yet now when was Kenton last heard?

I think as mentioned, it's hard to fit in so many characters into a few minutes, but what I can't understand is why is there SO much around a handful of characters for so many episodes? I'm getting pretty tired of Tony's moaning and Tom's bragging and bullying Tony in return nearly every episode lately! Grrrr

regarding the comment "Roarrie is never discussed at all". I was thinking the opposite - often he is mentioned as being there just our of earshot, which I find uncovincing since he used to be real. on the other hand the plot about Sharon (I think) being told to go away after John's death is clever if that's how it happended at the time.
