    Hello,

My name is Consuelo Nohpal de la Rosa and for my Masters dissertation in Statistics Applied to Medicine I am comparing the death rate of characters on The Archers with the death rate of England and Wales (similar to this study: http://www.bmj.com/content/315/7123/1649). For this study, I need the dates between which a character was active on The Archers, as well as the characters date of birth (so that I can calculate their age at their times of entry and exit). While I have found all this information for 151 characters, there are some who elude me. Specifically, I have been unable to find the date of birth (even approximately) for any of the following characters. If anyone can let me know when they were born (even if just the year), then that would be very much appreciated.

    Jess Allard
    Joe Allard
    Rex Allard
    Gordon Armstrong
    Amos Atkins
    Jean-Paul Aubert
    Max Bailey
    Hugo Barnaby
    Irene Barraclough
    Ken Barraclough
    Betty Barratt
    Fred Barratt
    Admiral Bellamy
    Harry Booker
    George Fairbrother
    Janet Fisher
    Simon Pemberton
    Arthur Perkins
    Ken Pound
    Reggie Trentham
    Valerie Woolley

Thank you in advance for your help,
    -Consuelo Nohpal de la Rosa

P.S. I am cross-posting this request between the BBC Archers Forum, the Archers Addicts Forum and uk.media.radio.archers. I hope I do not offend anyone’s sensibilities by doing so.

Consuelo - The Book of the Archers by Patriacia Greene, Charles Collingwood and Hedli Niklaus is a definitive guide to Archers characters. For many of the characters their birth dates (and where applicable date of death) are shown but although all the characters on the list are in the book (with the exception of Irene and ken Barraclough)none of them have their dates of birth.

Jean-Paul (sixth on your list) was the tempremental french chef at Gray Gables and was played by Yves Aubert.

    Hi Consuelo

Many of the characters have not been given birth dates, and most of the characters you mention were in the series in the fifties and sixties when record keeping was haphazard. Nobody expected The Archers to keep going for so many decades!

This makes your research and the comparisons you wish to draw extremely difficult.

You could contact The Archers Office and get in touch with their Archivist - the telephone number is 0121 567 6226

    Hope this helps

Thank you for your help, I will certainly get in touch with The Archers Office.

So far I've been using 'The Archers Encyclopedia' and 'The Book of the Archers', as well as the BBC site for more recent characters. I suspect you are right that I'm not going to find anything more, but it is certainly worth a try!

    Thank you again,
    -Consuelo

Consuelo, When you were doing your research did you find a birth date for Jolene Perks? A much more recent character than the ones on your list but I recall seing some recent postings on the AA Forum about the fact that her birthday is not included in any of the Archers calanders or diaries.
