39 appleTasters for 25-30th September 2011

Jim has a fruitful idea this week, and the villagers of Ambridge look forward to tasting the fruits of their labours…

Jim has his eye on the Grange Farm Orchard, putting the Grundys in a reflective frame of mind. Events at Bridge Farm have certainly upset the apple cart, prompting Joe to consider sacrificing the apple of his eye for the sake of the family…

A rotten apple?

While the Grundy’s get busy collecting windfall apples, Tony hopes for a windfall – of the cash variety. They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but Pat and Tony want to know what keeps the bailiffs at bay? Let’s hope it’s leeks, as leeks and trouble are about the only things in plentiful supply at Bridge Farm at the moment. Tony endeavours to cultivate his fortune, but his attempts prove fruitless. Tom, meanwhile, tries to get his business back in apple-pie order. He’s got the ambition, but is there an appetite for Tom Archer Sausages?

Peggy helps Elona to a happier future, leaving Lilian wondering if Darrell’s a rotten apple, or whether he just needs a second chance. Leonie and James make their presence felt at the Flower and Produce Show, but then they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree… And having discovered that stolen fruit tastes the sweetest, Jolene plans to hang onto Kenton as sure as God made little apples… It’s The Archers!

Don’t forget the Flower and Produce Show on Sunday, and relationships are put to the test on Friday…

Sunday – A winning formula
Monday – An apple of an idea
Tuesday – A change of scene
Wednesday – A private proposal
Thursday – A bill too many
Friday – A mean message

Pink Lady – Jolene’s in the pink

38 mouth of the storm

Tasters for 18th-23rd September 2011

Bridge Farm sails close to the wind this week, while Clarrie hopes for some plain sailing…

Having weathered the storm and felt like a fish out of water, Clarrie is calmer and looking to the future. Could that be hope we spy on the horizon?... Not so for Pat and Tony who are caught in the middle of a tempest. There’s a sea change for Tom who launches off in a new direction, while his parents struggle to keep an even keel. Forced to trim their sails, it’s sink or swim for Bridge Farm and, as the business continues to leak money, the future looks uncertain.

Lost at sea

Elsewhere, while Freddie takes to riding like a duck to water, Elizabeth is back at the helm and determined to make her business work. Having had the wind knocked out of her sails, Jennifer thinks Peggy may be a little lost at sea. Nic tries not to rock the boat. Debbie hopes her dairy idea will sail through and plans to make it work come hell or high water. Less interested in the sea and altogether interested in cider, Joe celebrates his birthday in style. Blood is thicker than water (and cider), and he’s glad to have a complete crew… It’s The Archers!

You are invited to Joe’s 90th birthday bash on Monday, and tune in for a novel marketing idea on Wednesday!

Sunday – Happy Birthday Joe!
Monday – A surprise for Ruth
Tuesday – Alice lets go
Wednesday – Tom takes a punt
Thursday  Where there’s a Will
Friday  Tony tidies up

In deep water – Pat and Tony
Treading water– Tom and Brenda
Watering Hole
– Keeper’s Cottage

37 big businessTasters for 11-16th September 2011

It’s back to business for Bridge Farm, while Brian makes big plans…

While Tony and Pat attempt to build their business back up, Tom considers breaking away from the Bridge Farm brand. Will Tony let him turn his back on the family name, or will Tom stay true to his roots? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, time isn’t working wonders for Clarrie. They say a woman’s work is never done, but Clarrie just can’t find a new job. As we know, the devil makes work for idle hands and Clarrie makes a break from it all. Let’s hope Eddie’s support will work like a charm: he has his work cut out, keeping the money rolling in and his wife on track.

Funny business

The ever-ambitious Brian hatches a new plan, but will his big ideas for a bigger business upset the neighbours? If it’s anything like the infamous anaerobic digester there’s bound to be an uproar… Brian and Debbie admire Chris’s industrious nature while he and Alice pursue a life of all work and no play. What a business!… It’s The Archers!

Debbie reveals all on Sunday while Tom tests the limits on Monday…

Sunday – Dairy gets Debbie’s vote
Monday – Freddie follows in Nigel’s footsteps
Tuesday – Clarrie makes tracks
Wednesday – Brian plans his pitch

Thursday Eddie understands
Friday Tom breaks away

Business as usual – Brian & Debbie
Working up a sweat – Pat & Tony
